History:
The Austrian Laser Association’s aim is to introduce revolutionary technologies involving lasers into industrial manufacturing processes, by testing, informing and educating. In the early eighties the rise of manufacturing with high power lasers was evident and caused the founding of the Austrian Laser Association, which contributed to its modern maturity. This is why lasers can nowadays be used in all parts of the economy, outside of the lab, just like cnc cutters. Conveniently, no special state funding is needed anymore. On the contrary, metal 3D printing, utilizing high power lasers, is not as fully developed as plastic 3D printing. This revolution yet to come needs support, which is why that subject is our current focus.
Successful Educational Projects:
- ELA-Eurolaser Academy: Postgraduate programme that included a manual, lectures and lab sessions with leading experts and institutes in Valencia, Aix en Provence, Aachen, Berlin, Cambridge, Liverpool and Vienna.
- DELTA: All ELA lectures on a CD with the original sound, all slides and demonstrations.
- VIRTUELA: Interactive experiments, simulated with devices and processes. Collaboration with the university of Madrid and many other partners in the EU.
- LASTEDNET: Remote Experiments grant access to leading laboratories over the Internet and send back both the progress and the outcomes. Collaboration with the university of Ljubljana and many other partners in the EU. Successful demonstrations in Marseille, Malta and Wels, Austria.
